Despite a bad offense that ranks last in MLB with 124 runs scored as of Wednesday afternoon, the Miami Marlins actually have a chance to compete for a spot in the postseason.

Whether it is a good chance or not will depend on many things and every person’s opinion, but a chance is a chance.

And since they intend to contend, they are making a win-now move that will surely have a huge impact on their season shall they decide to make it permanent.

“The Miami Marlins are calling up 20 year old top pitching prospect Eury Perez. This historical start will be Friday Night at loanDepot Park against the Cincinnati Reds per sources,” Marlins insider Craig Mish tweeted.

Marlins fans, brace yourselves and prepare to watch one of the most exciting pitching prospects to come up in recent memory.

Perez is 6-foot-8, yet has impeccable command of a four-pitch arsenal that can be overpowering for the opposition but effortless for him.

He sits in the high-90s with his fastball, but his changeup might be his best pitch.

Results-wise, the start of the 2023 campaign has been successful for him.

He owns an excellent 2.32 ERA, a 0.81 WHIP, and a 42/9 K/BB ratio across 31 innings (six starts) this season for Double-A Pensacola.

He is just 20 years old and is being called up while skipping Triple-A.

Perez is the future ace of the Marlins rotation.

As it usually happens with prospects, whether he sticks around in MLB or gets sent back to the minors will depend almost exclusively on his performance.
