The Las Vegas Raiders are in trouble after their latest poor performance, which came on Monday versus the Detroit Lions.

They lost, 26-14, as quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo completed fewer than half of his pass attempts, threw zero touchdown passes and one interception, and got sacked six times, and they were lucky they didn’t lose by more than 12 points.

The Raiders brought in Garoppolo to replace the outgoing Derek Carr, whom they parted ways with months ago, but now it appears Garoppolo’s starting job could be in jeopardy.

There are rumors they could go with Aidan O’Connell next week when they host the New York Giants, but head coach Josh McDaniels didn’t want to comment on that possibility when asked about it, per Andrew Siciliano.

It has been a rough season for the soon-to-be 32-year-old Garoppolo, who came into this season looking like a very solid quarterback after helping the San Francisco 49ers reach the NFC Championship Game in three of the last four seasons.

But in six games this year, he has thrown an NFL-high nine interceptions and he has a very poor 78.1 passer rating.

O’Connell filled in for him in Week 7 when he was sidelined with a back injury, and in that game, O’Connell went 10 of 13 and had one touchdown pass and one interception.

For the second straight year, the Raiders are struggling despite having plenty of talent on paper on both sides of the football, particularly on offense, and it is starting to look like perhaps they should consider wholesale changes in the near future.
