The New York Jets still have a light at the end of the tunnel.

They’re currently sitting on a 4-6 record, and with the playoffs slightly out of sight, but Tim Boyle taking over Zach Wilson might be just what they need to at least get over the hump.

That made some people think that Aaron Rodgers would give up on his plans to come back this season, as he’s targeting a return in mid-December, and the Jets could be way out of the postseason race by then.

Now, however, NFL insider Jay Glazer reports that Rodgers intends to get back on the field regardless of his team’s record, as he’s still adamant about making history by making an in-season return after suffering a torn Achilles (via Dov Kleiman).

Rodgers and his medical staff continue to insist that there’s a big chance that he’s able to make an unprecedented return this season, which would be a revolutionary breakthrough for sports science.

And while some might think that there’s no point in risking further injury by playing for an eliminated team, especially at that point in his career, Rodgers and the team could benefit greatly from that.

He’s going to be there for at least another season, so getting those real reps alongside his teammates, behind that offensive line, and with that offensive coordinator could be huge for him.

This obviously isn’t what they hoped for when they traded for Rodgers, but at least, the fans will get to watch him play for them this year.
