Linda Yaccarino, NBCUniversal’s chair of global advertising, has resigned, the company said Friday.

The announcement came after Elon Musk said via twitter The social media site will have a new chief executive, although he did not name the newcomer. Musk said in his tweet that the person will start working in about six weeks.

CNBC’s Julia Boorstin reported, citing sources, that Yaccarino is in advanced talks for the role.

Yaccarino joined NBCUniversal in 2011 and has since risen to head the company’s global advertising business. On Monday, the advertising executive plans to attend NBCUniversal’s pre-event at Radio City — the company and its media peers showcase sales to the ad industry every May.

The longtime ad executive has developed rich relationships with top chief marketing officers and other ad executives at a time when the site has seen advertisers flee and requires serious damage control.
