Panthers Owner Makes His Thoughts Clear About Bryce Young

The Carolina Panthers made a rather bold decision by firing Frank Reich midway through the season.

Granted that the veteran coach didn’t do much to help his case, letting a coach go in his first year while he’s also coaching a rookie quarterback is a rather bold decision.

Team owner David Tepper isn’t known for his patience.

However, he reaffirmed his commitment to his rookie quarterback, stating that he’s still confident in Bryce Young (via Ian Rapoport).

The Alabama product has been the most disappointing rookie in the league thus far, especially when compared to other QBs from his class, such as C.J. Stroud, Will Levis, and Anthony Richardson.

There were serious doubts about his size — or lack thereof — and whether he would be able to withstand the physical burden of a full NFL season.

But more than that, his lack of improvement and poor reads have been worrisome, not to mention the fact that the offense reportedly had to simplify the playbook.

Young looks out of sorts and out of confidence right now, and some believe it might be better to bench him for his own good and just shut him down for the year.

To add insult to injury, the Panthers won’t even have a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, as they traded that selection to the Chicago Bears for the right to get Young.

Still, it’s too early in his career, and we’ve seen some legendary gunslingers struggle early, so they’re doing the right thing by not giving up on him so fast.
