Unaccounted Cash Seized, Three Detained: JK Police

SRINAGAR: Security forces on Friday detained three people along with unaccounted cash at Mahore in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Quoting an official, the news agency Kashmir Scroll reported that during a naka checking by the army three persons traveling towards Srinagar in a vehicle, were held and a cash amount in the tune of rupees fifty-thousand rupees was recovered from their possession.

“During sustained questioning, the detained persons were unable to give any satisfactory answer concerning cash, following which the army called Mahore police to the spot”, the official said.

Two detained have been identified as Mir Ahmed of Bathoie, Mahore, driver of the vehicle, and Farooq Ahmed, 38, son of Mushtaq Ahmed of Dewal, Mahore. The identity of the third person is being ascertained.

They are being questioned to ascertain the sources of the cash.

During further inquiry by the police officials of Mahore till the time, no terror angle was established, the statement said.

However, it added, a detailed inquiry is still underway.
