The Dallas Cowboys entered Sunday’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins looking to make a statement.

But Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders kicked a 29-yarder as time expired to secure a 22-20 win for Miami.

A lot of the talk before the game was about how the Cowboys could put themselves on the map as serious contenders by defeating the top passing offense in the league.

While Dak Prescott got off to a hot start, the team was haunted by red-zone issues that included a crucial fumble inside the Cowboys’ 1-yard line.

After the game, Shannon Sharpe was not happy with the Cowboys’ offense and called out Mike McCarthy for not having a balanced offense.

“The Cowboys don’t even really try to run the football. I don’t know if they can’t run it, or they don’t make a commitment to run it,” Sharpe said.

The Cowboys fell to 3-5 on the road this season and their road record will be a glaring concern going into the playoffs.

“We’re not taking any moral victories from this,” Prescott said. “We will take some confidence. We’re committed to one another and holding each other accountable in our goal.”

The Cowboys will next game will be against the Detroit Lions as this will be another chance for the team to rebound after their recent disappointing losses to the Dolphins and Bills.
