Robert Saleh Has 2-Word Response About Zach Wilson’s Future With Jets

The future of Zach Wilson on the New York Jets appears very uncertain.

Wilson had another poor season in New York, his third in the NFL, after he took over for an injured Aaron Rodgers, was benched, returned as the starter, and then suffered what could be a season-ending concussion.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh didn’t deny offseason trade rumors around Wilson earlier this year and then gave a very ominous response when asked if Wilson would be on the team in 2024.

“We’ll see,” Saleh said, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini.

Wilson’s time with the Jets effectively evaporated the moment the team benched him for Tim Boyle.

The Jets remain all-in on Rodgers for 2024 and Wilson’s 2023 campaign wasn’t enough to guarantee he would return, even as a back-up.

New York will assuredly not pick up Wilson’s fifth-year option this spring, meaning he’ll enter next season on the final year of his rookie contract.

If the Jets don’t want to keep Wilson, they can either cut him or try to trade him, though his value is at an all-time low after another bad season.

Either way, Jets general manager Joe Douglas will need to find a better backup quarterback for Rodgers in 2024 with Wilson likely on the outs.

The Jets could also draft a quarterback with what could be a top-10 pick in the spring.
